Helping people develop a healthy relationship
with food is my primary goal.
The
Online Instinctive Eating Program
I understand your frustrations with eating and weight,
and I am here to offer the solution to your struggles. This is THE online program to help you reclaim your instinctive
ability to eat naturally and with ease. The information
in this program is based on the latest research and years of experience
in working with all types of people struggling with issues of weight concern. Here is some of the supporting evidence for this approach:
Because intuitive eaters allow their internal hunger cues to guide
their food intake and follow their internal satiety cues to determine
when to stop eating, they are more likely to weigh an amount that is
ideal for their body type (Polivy & Herman, 1992; Tribole &
Resch, 1995)
Conversely, approximately 95% of those who diet and lose weight
will regain the weight within a few years, and many of these individuals
will gain more weight than they originally lost (Heatherton, Mahamedi,
Striepe, Field, & Keel, 1997)
Dieting also has been associated with increased food preoccupation,
binge eating, and eating in the absence of hunger (Birch et al.,
2003; Keys et al., 1950; Polivy & Herman, 1999)
Indeed, individuals who do not diet were found to be less likely
to eat in response to emotional fluctuations and situational factors
(e.g., visual and olfactory food cues) than those who diet (Carper
et al., 2000; Fedoroff et al., 1997; Kahan et al., 2003)
Overall, these findings indicate that individuals who eat intuitively
are less likely to engage in behaviors that may lead to weight gain
(e.g., eating in the absence of hunger, eating in response to emotional
fluctuations and situational factors, binge eating) than people who
diet. Even though some average and below average weight women may practice
restrained eating without engaging in these behaviors, women who eat
intuitively should have, on average, lower body mass than those who
restrain their eating, because dieting is an ineffective means of weight
loss for most individuals (Heatherton, et. al., 1997)
...listening to body signals in determining what, when, and how
much to eat is associated with lower body mass. These findings support
the construct validity of the [Intuitive Eating Scale] because they
are consistent with the tenets of intuitive eating…further supporting
the IES’s connection to psychological well-being. Study 3 found
that IES total and subscale scores were negatively related to BMI, which
upholds the connection documented between dieting and elevated weight
(Birch et al., 2003; Carper et al., Entire article available at: Journal
of Counseling Psychology. 2006, Vol. 53, No. 2, 226–240 Development
and Psychometric Evaluation of a Measure of Intuitive Eating, Tracy
L. Tylka, Ohio State University)
Imagine what it would be like if you never again had to worry
about what you eat. All foods are good and can be eaten as you choose.
You can live in a world where the only “bad” foods are ones
with things growing on them. I urge anyone who struggles with weight to
commit to get off the exhausting, endless deprivation/binge cycle and
use these strategies for normalizing (and enjoying!) their relationship
with food.
I want you to learn what I have learned. As a Registered Dietitian,
I have explored all of the weight management programs available, and I
can see this approach is the only one that continues to work over time.
And, even though it feels complex at first, it is ultimately the easiest
program available because it works with your body (instead of against
it). Like riding a bike or driving a car—there is a lot of conscious
focus at first, but then it becomes effortless. This is the approach
to eating I use for myself.
Because I can only see a limited number of clients each week, I decided
to develop this online program to spread the word—so that anyone
from anywhere can unlock their own ability to eat like they were born
knowing how. This includes weekly instinctive eating lessons, as well
as unlimited email contact for questions and support.
Who is this program for?
The chronic dieter who is done with dieting and looking for a long
term solution
The recovered disordered eating or eating disorder client* who
is looking for continued reinforcement of ‘intuitive or instinctive
eating
The individual contemplating or going through weight-loss surgery,
who wants to address the underlying issues with food
Anyone who has found eating and weight concerns to be negatively
affecting their quality of life, and wants to make lasting changes in
their relationship to food
*Please note that this program is not intended
to replace the necessary treatment required to overcome eating disorders.
Ideally, an individual will have a treatment team they see regularly.
This program serves as a complement to current therapies already being
utilized.
In a perfect
world, everyone would have access to their own Nutritionist/Dietitian,
and they would meet weekly/biweekly with them. However, some people do
not have the time, access, or financial means to do so. This program offers
expert advice from the comfort and convenience of home at a highly affordable
price.
Here are a few of the many benefits you’ll gain:
The chronic dieter who is done with dieting and looking for a long
term solution
Regulate metabolism
Become attuned to internal cues
Prevent excessive hunger
Enjoy favorite foods without guilt
Improve mood
Have a better understanding of emotions
Enhance energy levels
Freedom from restriction or dieting
Normalize your relationship with food
How does it work?
Step One: We will begin with an Initial Assessment done
via email, which will establish the basis for our work together. This
will provide me with the ability to tailor the program to best meet your
individual needs.
Step Two: You will begin receiving weekly program lessons to guide
you back to instinctive eating (remember, you were born knowing how to
eat). Each lesson typically takes a couple of weeks to master, so the
first lesson will be informative and the next week will be an active participation
tool to reinforce the learning from the prior week.
Step Three: You will have unlimited email access to further enhance
your progress in the program. This provides you with the opportunity to
clarify concepts in the lessons, seek support in any struggles you may
be having, and keep me posted with your progress.
What
is the Investment?
Account Activation and Initial Assessment (1st month included):
$169.95
Weekly Subscription to the Born to Eat Program:
$34.95
Due to the personalized nature of this program, I will only be accepting
a limited number of online clients. If this is something you are interested
in, it is important that you sign up as soon as possible in order to guarantee
your spot in the program. I will be answering emails personally, and therefore
will only accept as many clients as I feel I can give adequate attention.
For less than $35 per week (which is only about 25% of the cost of weekly
treatment in my practice), you can receive the advice and support to reclaim
your natural ability to eat with ease! The gift of a normal relationship
with food will allow you to spend your time and energy really living,
instead of obsessing over eating and weight. I have seen this work for
countless others—and if you are willing to trust the process, I
know it can work for you, too.
